Data Portrait

|  Description

In this project, I tracked how many times I pick up my phone for 7 days. The number of the red dots represents my phone pickups in a day. There is a navigator on the top of the sketch indicating the date. By moving the mouse, you can see phone pickups on each day.

|  Design Process

I tracked the data using Screentime app. Here is the numbered list:

I was inspired by the notification signs on my iPhone. It is nice to have a notification so that you won't miss any informations, but sometimes those little red dots make me feel anxious. So in this project, I created a lot of flashing red dots to represent that kind of anxiety.

|  Reflection

I was surprised that I pick up my phone so many times in a day. I feel like nowadays people amy spend too much time on their phones, but it is hard for an individual to cut off from the network because our society hugely relies on it.
Compared to data itself, data visualization also express emotions and opinions of the creator. It is more of an art piece than a numbered list to me.
